I have never attempted ink on canvas before, but I thought it somehow fitting to the image I was trying to create.
The one thing I ended up loving and hating in equal measure, was how cheat-proof ink is. I didn’t get to take it back, to erase it or to tweak it, not like with an errant stroke of a pencil. With ink, my first pen stroke was my last. Sketching this image was a little reminiscent of a live music performance – once heard, the faulty note cannot be retracted, but the piece is all the more beautiful for its presence.
